That’s quite true, but still, tennis bigwigs have now started to ask the fans to concentrate more on their potential and the hard work they put on the court to reach this stage. Recently, we saw Serena Williams’ former coach, Rennae Stubbs, showing her support to Pegula and Navarro on the ongoing ‘Billionaire Privilege Debate’, Now Williams’ childhood coach has joins the list too!

Earlier Stubbs said, “You can’t buy your way into the Top 10 or a major final without an extraordinary amount of hard work on the tennis court, in the gym, and having mental fortitude and guts!” She stated that those who think that money guarantees success have no clue about the amount of hard work they’ve put in to reach the Top 10 in the women’s singles ranking. Rennae Stubbs thinks, “Being rich doesn’t make u a better tennis player.” So, she asked all the fans to stop these narratives that because of their wealthy background, they’ve reached this stage.

Now Rick Macci has also come up to show support towards these two American tennis stars. The 69-year-old coach tweeted, “Pegula and Navarro being world-class has ZERO to do with the ZEROS the parents have supported them with. The calming skills the work ethic the movement and life lessons of gratitude and right attitude goes farther than the money you spend to chase greatness.”

Apart from these two, we have also heard Genie Bouchard speak about the same issue. The Canadian said she fails to understand why Jessica Pegula gets so much hate. Is it only because of her wealthy family background? According to Bouchard, Pegula is very much down-to-earth and a fun-loving person and she believes her enormous hard work has put her here in this place. Nothing else! Jessica Pegula thinks all this “Billionaire” thing is a bit “annoying” and also “funny”

Just after her emphatic victory over Iga Swiatek in the QF of the 2024 US Open, Jessica Pegula was asked to respond to all the comments she faces due to her parents’ wealth. In reply to that question, she said, “It’s that people think I have a butler; I get chauffeured around; I have a private limo; that I fly private everywhere – it’s… I’m definitely not like that. I mean, people can think what they want. I just think it’s kind of funny.”

The 30-year-old tennis star further added, “It’s a little annoying, but honestly, I just think it’s kind of funny because I don’t really even know anyone that lives like that. It’s outrageous.” On the other hand, when Emma Navarro reached the SF of the US Open, she gave a shout out to her dad for his enormous support in her tennis career. By mentioning all of these, did she mean only monetary support? No, instead, she revealed,

“I want to also thank my dad because I think he saw a vision from the time I was really young.” Emma Navarro thanked her dad for sending her on this journey with the racquet sport. Previously during an interview, another tennis legend, Lindsay Davenport had revealed that Navarro’s dad told her how deeply his daughter cares for the sport. He told her that Emma Navarro has never stopped trying in any matches, even in the juniors, in the collegiate ranks.
