Serena Williams, the 23 times Grand Slam champion, recently retired from the sport. After being beaten in the third round of the US Open this season, she decided to hang her racket. Williams is now free of tennis’ hectic schedule. She has more time on her hand now which consecutive tours didn’t allow her previously. She can now embrace her fun-loving nature fully.

Recently, she attended a talk show and gave her fans something to laugh about by putting her fun side to work. Here’s a part where she played along with the host Drew Barrymore’s absurd story.

Serena Williams being effortlessly funny

Williams, who received a standing ovation and a round of applause upon entering the room, decided to make the evening’s mood goofy. She was attentive and chimed into Barrymore’s hilarious success story. The first thing they discussed was how hard they have worked.

“I have an infallible work ethic.” The Actress said.

 

To which Williams responded by saying, “I love it.”

Barrymore: I have worked since I was 11 months old in diapers. I am tireless.”

Williams:Wow. 11 months! I have been doing this since I was in the stroller. But dang, you got me beat girl.”

The former world no 1 is currently focusing on her family and her business.

However, she still has tennis in her mind and has spoken about keeping the option of a comeback open. 

Records Williams could have achieved

The seven-time Wimbledon champion rejoined the circuit after a year-long injury break and was just two match wins away from engraving her name on Margaret Court’s record.

If Williams was to survive till the third round, she would have touched the milestone of 100 victories in the Grand Slam of grass. Further, she would have become the only player of the current generation to do so other than Roger Federer.

Also, she was one majors win away from securing the all-time record. The 41-year-old could have claimed the Australian veteran Margaret Court’s record if form and fate helped her win either Wimbledon or the US Open.
