Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka has long been away from tennis now. After opting out of the Japan Open, the 25-year-old pulled out of the Australian Open. Later, she revealed her pregnancy. This means that the four-time Grand Slam champion will be out of action for almost a year. However, fans have not forgotten her and wish to see her back on the court.
While the fans are happy for her, they are certainly missing her on the tennis court. Osaka wasn’t in great form in the last season. However, she carries an amazing overall record. Up till now, world number one Iga Swiatek has been the hot favorite to win the Australian Open. However, her exit meant that we are not going to have a back-to-back Grand Slam champion. This refreshed the memory of a dominant Osaka in the mind of fans.

World Number 1 Iga Swiatek suffered a straight-set defeat against the last year’s Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina. The Kazakh was absolutely phenomenal throughout the match and ended the hopes of having a back-to-back WTA Grand Slam winner.
With Iga Swiatek being eliminated by Rybakina in R4, the last WTA player to win back-to-back Grand Slam singles' titles remains Naomi Osaka in 2020/2021 (US Open; Australian Open). pic.twitter.com/xBuxPSDS6J

The last WTA star to win two Grand Slam titles back to back was the Japanese tennis star, Naomi Osaka. The 25-year-old did it when she won the 2020 US Open, followed by Australian Open 2021. However, the former world number one failed to replicate her old form after that.
Osaka was going through a disastrous form before taking the maternity break. After her controversial withdrawal from the French Open 2021, Osaka lost the initial round of the maximum tournaments she played. Now that she is going to have the added responsibility of being a mother on her shoulders, fans are concerned about her tennis future. Here’s how they reacted.
I miss Naomi. I don’t think she will return to tennis.

While most of the fans are already missing the Japanese tennis star, others understand it will be difficult for her to make a comeback. Osaka suffered from a form slump even before going on a maternity break. It will only get tougher from here for the 25-year-old.
As former tennis star Chris Evert said, the priorities shift after the baby arrives. However, we have seen it happen recently.
