The racket game isn’t the only sport that has piqued the interest of Danielle Collins, as she previously brought to light her passion for golf. As she is now ardently keeping up with this totally disparate sport, the American tennis star also recently opened up about her competitive spirit against her boyfriend on the golf course.
In an interview with the Tennis Channel, the newly crowned Miami Open champion revealed that her boyfriend is also into sports, and is particularly adept at golf. She also said, “He is very competitive, he was a football player at Columbia in New York. Very smart. Engineer major. So yeah, he’s definitely…Like, I’m more of kind of the jock in the relationship, and he’s definitely more of the cerebral one.”
"I'm me, this is how it is and I'm not going to change for anybody."

When asked if her boyfriend had gotten her on the golf course, Collins opened up about how she hates losing to him, as she is ‘so competitive.’ The former number 7 player said, “He has got me on the golf course, and I’m so competitive, I hate losing to this guy. Love him to death but hate losing to him.” Collins’ competitive spirit has now prompted her to take some golf lessons to hone her skills.

In the same interview, the American player disclosed that she intends to level up her skills because she has been trailing her boyfriend by a significant margin on the course. Danielle Collins said, “And I got it really up my golf game and get some tips. I’m still, you know, waiting to do some lessons at some point. We just haven’t had a lot of time especially these last couple of weeks.”
Collins also stated that she was not able to take any golf lessons as the previous few weeks had been extremely busy for her due to back-to-back tournament participation, including the ongoing Charleston Open. She went on to say, “But I want to be able to, like, at least be able to hang with him a little bit more out there because I’m so many shots behind him sometimes.”
