The top-seeded male tennis player, Deniil Medvedev, and the two-time Grand Slam champion, Victoria Azarenka, were therefore unable to participate in this big competition.

Liudmila Samsonova on Wimbledon ban after her win at the Pan Pacific Open
The Russian professional claimed her third title out of the four tournaments at the Pan Pacific Open on Sunday. She indirectly credited Wimbledon’s ban on Russian and Belarusian players for her performance at the matches she played.
The ban from the Wimbledon Grand Slam of 2022 caught the Russian world number 30 off guard. She, however, made the most of this time by using it to hone her skills while maintaining the pace of the practice serve between 120 and 150.
‘’I said, ‘OK, I have one month without tournaments, so let’s work this month’,” Samsonova stated. “I used it so well because I was working so hard. I had 32 days of just practicing, which is not normal at that time of year for a tennis player,” she further added.

The evolving Russian tennis star’s history of recent victories
Samsonova, who is currently ranked thirty in the world, is on target to achieve a new personal best. She edged her nineteen-year old Chinese opponent, Zheng Qinwen, 7-5, 7-5 in the Toray Pan Pacific Open final on Sunday, where she had her service broken only once. This led Samsonova to clinch her third title of the year as well as mark her 18th win in the last 19 matches she played.
The Tennis player from Russia prevailed upon Zhang Shuai, Garbine Muguruza, Wang Xinyu, and the Wimbledon title holder, Elena Rybakina, making her way to the final, where, notably, she lost serve only on 6 occasions.
