Venus Williams, since turning pro in the late 90s, has stamped her status as one of the best in the sport. She has astonishing records in almost all categories and has brought her nation four gold Olympic medals. However, to become what she is today, Williams had to give up some moments that an average person cherishes the most.

Williams never had a normal childhood, according to her. Unlike other children, she had to follow a strict regime which took away the little joys. The joys, such as having an assortment of sweets in lunch boxes. Here’s what the seven-time Grand Slam champion feels about the same.
Venus Williams wanted Froot Loops
Williams, while in an interview in 2002, spoke about how she is still angry at her mother for making her stick to a schedule that made her feel envious of other kids. She said, “most kids in their lunch boxes have little happy juices and stuff. We didn’t get juices, we got milk! It ruined my childhood, you know. All my friends got Captain Crunch cereal or Froot Loops, and we had to have Puff Wheat.”
Thereafter, she chuckled and said, “So cruel! No Froot Loops! Of course, when I confront her, Mom makes excuses. She didn’t want us to have sugar because we were already all bouncing off the walls. But that’s no good to me now! The damage is done!”

Williams, by the time of this interview, had already achieved the ranking of World No.1. She also had won the US Open and the Wimbledon titles twice.

Williams’ comeback to the tour
The former World No.1 walked out of the WTA tour in the year 2021 after incurring a leg injury around Wimbledon. She followed in the footsteps of her younger sister and made her comeback in this season’s Wimbledon Championships. However, unlike Serena, the five-time Wimbledon champion decided to participate in mixed doubles with Jamie Murray.
