Jessica Pegula’s Olympic journey for Team USA was a bittersweet chapter, but all good things must come to an end. As her time at the Games draws to a close, the American tennis star expressed her sadness, sharing a heartfelt message on Instagram. In her post, Pegula revealed a surprising wish for her next sporting life—one that doesn’t involve tennis.

While Pegula’s singles run came to an end in the second round of the event, the same happened with the women’s doubles competition, as she and Coco Gauff lost to Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova. But now, leaving everything behind, she took to her X account to share how she would like to participate in the Olympics in her next life.

Pegula wrote, “Officially sad the Olympics is over. The social media content was unmatched and I want to come back in my next life as a track girl.” The American expressed her hope in a passionate statement to pursue a different sports career in her next life, demonstrating her enduring passion for the track and field world.

On the other hand, while this tweet was quite unexpected, it was Serena Williams’ ex-coach, Rennae Stubbs, who dropped a hilarious comment on the post, “lol” followed by a laughing emoji. Even though Pegula’s time at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was short, she offered her reflections on her time there during a news conference at the WTA 1000 in Toronto.

“I couldn’t perform as I would have liked, but it was fun to spend time with the rest of the team. Everything was chaotic; we went out of the village to have dinner, and we had to walk a lot because the traffic was jammed,” Pegula recounted.

But for the time being, it’s tennis for Pegula, as she is prepared to concentrate on her solo career, as she revealed in a heartfelt update to fans a few days ago that she and Coco Gauff will no longer be playing doubles. Following a dismal conclusion to her Olympic career, Coco Gauff gave hints that she would be concentrating more on her singles game and would thus be skipping the doubles tournament at the Canadian Open.

Pegula, in the meantime, is still determined to play singles and doubles. She partnered with Giuliana Olmos for the Toronto tournament after Gauff decided not to participate. Given that Olmos’ usual partner Alexandra Panova was unable to travel to Toronto, this pairing might only last temporarily, but it prompted concerns about Pegula’s long-term doubles goals.

During a post-match press conference, Pegula stated, “She [Olmos] has a partner that she usually plays with who just couldn’t come this week, so she will be back with her. Then, for me, I’m not sure. I know Coco doesn’t really, isn’t interested in playing, or at least I’m not, we’re not thinking of playing, so I probably will take it easy on the doubles the rest of the year, so, yeah, we’ll see.”

While Jessica Pegula may have expressed a desire to be reborn as a track and field athlete in another life, her current focus remains firmly on tennis. The sport continues to be her primary passion and pursuit, driving her to excel on the court. Nevertheless, what are your thoughts on Pegula’s wish? Do let us know in the comment section below.
