In front of a jam-packed home crowd, the American tennis prodigy secured her first Grand Slam crown in New York. After dropping the first set of the championship, the 19-year-old pulled off a spectacular comeback to clinch the victory in a three-set match, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.

While a flurry of American fans cheered for Coco Gauff, it turned into a hostile situation for her Belarusian opponent, Aryna Sabalenka. Emphasizing the same, the reigning Australian Open champion recently opened up about how she probably could have won the US Open final against Gauff if she had the support of the crowd.

In her on-court interview at the Brisbane International, Sabalenka said, “Guys if I will have your support at the US Open probably I would win that one. Can you come at the US Open next year?”

In front of several supporters rooting for her in Brisbane, Sabalenka won her opener against her Italian opponent Lucia Bronzetti in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. Notably, the WTA superstar suggested how things could have changed if she had the same roaring crowd rooting for her in the previous season’s Grand Slam event in New York.

While she revealed the probable reason behind her defeat, the current world No. 1 player also asked the fans if they could ‘come’ to support her at the next US Open.
