This figure, combined with the Opening Day Session attendance record of 41,930 fans in the stands, resulted in the US Open’s second-highest single-day attendance mark of 71,332 spectators.

Williams will play unseeded, Ajla Tomljanovic, in the third round. She will also compete in doubles with her sister Venus at the US Open. With 23 Grand Slam titles, Williams is regarded as the greatest female tennis player of all time.
