The FIFA Women’s World Cup is in full swing, and fans from around the world are tuning in to cheer for their players. One of those cheering squads is the Williams-Ohanian family. Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian, and their daughter Olympia are big soccer fans. They regularly catch up with matches of the US team and root for their countrywomen. Things were no different at the most recent match, where Ohanian lauded a goal scored by Lindsey Horan.

While the entire family admires soccer, the appreciation seems to be mutual. Lindsey Horan is a big fan of Serena Williams and even considers her one of the best athletes in history. In an interview for the World Cup, she chose Williams as one of her top 5 US athletes of all time. Now, it seems Ohanian too has some high praise for the midfielder.

Alexis Ohanian praises USWNT midfielder

As the US Women’s National Team continues to fight to defend their championship, Alexis Ohanian is supporting them in every way he can. USWNT faced off against the Netherlands, in what was being hailed as a rematch of the 2019 World Cup finals. While the team did initially not fare well against their opponents recently, they were eventually able to equalize the score.

The Dutch seemed to be on track to win their revenge match, but Horan scored in the 62nd minute. After the ball went out behind the goalpost, the US team was awarded a corner where a lob pass and a fantastic header helped them equalize. As American nationals celebrated the goal, no one seemed more excited about it than Alexis Ohanian. He shared the video of the goal on Twitter with the caption, “The energy and lead up to this goal (and the satisfaction when @LindseyHoran scored were PURE CINEMA.“

The Williams-Ohanian family will revel in the excitement for a while. Turns out, they even let Olympia stay up late to watch the matches as much as she can. Interestingly enough, just as they admire the players of the sport, the USWNT team members are also big fans of them.

Lindsey Horan picks Serena Williams for American monument

While Ohanian continues to praise Horan, she seems to be star-stuck by his wife, former World No. 1 Serena Williams. Lindsey Horan greatly admires the Queen of the Court, who has inspired her heavily. In an interview for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Horan was asked to pick individuals for a US athletes’ Mount Rushmore. Her response was a telling one.
