Back in 2017, Alexis Ohanian offered a prescient glimpse into his wife Serena Williams’ future, stating, “She’s very good at a lot of things and well on her way to being an awesome mom, too.” With the arrival of their daughters, Olympia in September 2017 and Adira in August 2023, Ohanian’s words have clearly come to fruition. In an April 17 tweet, he shared a clip of himself where he said, “Being blessed to have two black daughters in particular helps me reframe even some of the most subtle things. So I take Olympia golfing every Sunday. I am her daddy caddy. I don’t know how to play golf, I never played golf. And so we’ll go out there, and I am terrible, but we have a good instructor who’s also a woman.”

Ohanian, through the caption, highlighted, “But I recently realized she thinks golf is a girls-only sport… and all the old white guys on the driving range are just other dads waiting for their daughters. That lens, though? It’s everything. It keeps me grounded in the work I care about, and that’s the future I’m trying to build with two daughters.”

After seeing this post, a user named Amad Elia commented, “I love love this, you and Serena are amazing parents @alexisohanian.“ In reply to this, Ohanian wrote, “We’re doing our best. She’s (Serena Williams) a great mama.”

While Serena Williams encourages their daughters to explore their playful sides, Ohanian leans into a “gentle-ish” parenting style, often guiding Olympia through challenges with calm, open conversations. Together they share responsibilities in “raising queens“, but how challenging it has been for Williams to make a balance between her career and personal life over the years?

Back in 2021, when the Reddit co-founder advocated the paid family leave on a CBS show, he acknowledged Serena’s ability to multitask all while being a mom and a pro-athlete. “Something [Williams] is really good at is shutting it off and focusing on family time and personal time.” Even in July 2018, Ohanian was seen awestruck with Williams’ “mom strength button” that is so “powerful“.
