18-time Grand Slam winner Martina Navratilova is arguably one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Moreover, she was also one of the fittest players of her generation, as she played till she was 50.
Even now, at the age of 65, she looks incredibly fit and occasionally takes part in legends matches. In the past, she talked about a method that kept both her mind and body incredibly fit.

Martina Navratilova talked about visiting her home to get mental peace
In an interview in 2008, the former Czech-American tennis player opened up about visiting her home at Aspen in Colorado. According to her, she goes there whenever she was not playing tennis. “I dreamt about this fabulous place that I would have in the countryside with this big meadow in front and these fabulous mountains in the background. This is almost perfect, you know?” Navratilova said.
“Whenever anything bad happens, I just come out here, and all those problems just don’t seem that big. This is as centering as it can get. This is my church out here,” she further said.
According to her, you can eat healthy food and can exercise your mind and body well in the valley of Aspen.
Chris Evert and Navratilova’s epic rivalry
Both Navratilova and Chris Evert had one of the best rivalries in tennis, which lasted around 15 years on the tour. Moreover, they played nearly 80 matches against each other.

Both players started their careers in the early 70s. In the beginning, Navratilova did not have a great time against Evert, as she lost the first few matches against Evert. However, Navratilova made a tremendous comeback soon after their 20th meeting. Eventually, the Czech-American player got the better of Evert in terms of overall win-loss record; Navratilova had a 43-37 record when Evert retired.

Incidentally, both the players won 18 Grand Slam singles titles. Even though they were great rivals during their dominant era on the tour, they became close friends off the court. In the past, on several occasions, both Navratilova and Evert talked about their friendship, as they always supported each other.
Evert retired from professional tennis in her mid-30s in 1989. Whereas, Navratilova played till 50, and retired from professional tennis in 2006.
