The tennis community is sorely missing Maria Sharapova’s spell-binding performances on the court. It has been over three years since the Russian tennis ace decided to put down her racket after a bitter-sweet journey in the women’s circuit. Her remarkable tennis journey was hindered when she tested positive for a banned substance, meldonium due to which she also faced suspension. After eventually making a return to the court, the WTA legend surprised a slew of fans with her retirement decision at the mere age of 32. However, the now 36-year-old tennis star has surprised fans as she revealed that she could consider coming out of retirement to play on a special court.

After bidding adieu to competitive tennis in 2020, the Russian tennis ace has been involved in various business endeavors, including her own brands, Sugarpova, and Supergoop. Further, Maria Sharapova has always been intrigued to travel to various destinations across the globe alongside her partner, Alexander Gilkes.

In her latest social media post, the Russian tennis legend shared a carousel of pictures from her adventures in Cannes, France. It was her admiration for that clay court in Cannes that prompted the 36-year-old tennis star to consider coming out of her retirement. Notably, the former Wimbledon champion shared a video clip of that court on her Instagram story while she stated, “This is possibly the only court that could get me out of retirement.”

The former Russian tennis player’s admiration for the red clay of France has come as a surprise given her surprising revelation in the David Letterman Show. During her guest appearance in the show, she previously labeled herself as a “cow on ice” on the surface, where she faced a lot of challenges during her career.

Being 1.88 meters tall, the former tennis ace often used to slip on the clay courts, while she also agreed that Europeans had an advantage as they grew up practicing on the same surface. However, Sharapova later overcame all such obstacles, and she ended up clinching two major titles in France.
