Apart from strengthening their bond, this leisure activity stands to be a part of her learning as Hetchman’s coaching style incorporates fishing analogies into their tennis sessions. “I think it’s nice to have that kind of relationship with a coach, where you can separate tennis and other things and sometimes he’ll throw in some fishing analogies on the court, which is nice,” said Stearns.

As the tennis star continues to be on her run for the Miami Open title, it still remains to be seen if the unique fishing analogies used will help her surpass Victoria Azarenka in the upcoming competition.

Besides explaining how fishing acts as a binding factor between herself and coach Eric Hechtman, Peyton Stearns also reveals how she enjoys the peace of being a nobody during moments of fishing on the docks.

“I enjoy it because you can kind of separate yourself from the world a little bit. No one knows who you are at the fishing dock, so it’s fun,” she mentioned, revealing the fun and relaxing aspect of her favorite hobby. As the tennis star continues to vibe with her coach both on and off the court with specific drills, it still remains to be seen if their partnership brings any achievements in their portfolio.
