Evert once revealed that she used to be very shy as a young girl before making her mark on the tennis court as a fierce tennis player.

The former American tennis player, from a young age, worked hard in order to reach the unprecedented heights of her journey. Chris Evert was raised on the clay of that city’s tennis courts and she later made a name for herself as one of the greatest. Since then, the 18-time singles Grand Slam champion has always been quite vocal about various on and off-court incidents.
However, Evert once opened up about an unknown side of her and how tennis later changed things for her. Meanwhile, talking about that Evert also talked about her friend and rival, Martina Navratilova. She stated, “Martina claims I tell the dirtiest jokes around — probably as a semirevolt against my strict Catholic upbringing”.

She added, “And when I’ve become angry in practice, every four-letter word imaginable has graced these lips.” Evert was born in Fort Lauderdale, and she started her training under the guidance of her coach and father, Jimmy. The former US Open champion was only 5 when she started working hard on the tennis court with her dad. Later on, Evert not only ranked No. 1 in Women’s under-14 tennis but also on the WTA tour.

The 6-time US Open champion is known for being vocal about various on and off-court issues. Additionally, Evert as a ferocious athlete, has dominated against some of the best players on the WTA tour. However, prior to all this, Evert was just a young shy girl who was just “petrified of people.”

Evert further revealed, “Tennis helped give me an identity and made me feel like somebody.” Notably, Evert made a name for herself by winning 18 singles Grand Slam titles because of her iconic performances on the court.
