In October, when Paula Badosa announced that her season had come to an unfortunate ending due to an injury, she also shed a bit of light on her 2024 season. Badosa said, “I’m very proud of myself. I’m back where I wanted to be and where I was aiming since my comeback.” She was ranked 140th in the world on May 20 and she ended the year in the 12th spot of the women’s singles ranking. This is quite a massive jump considering her frequent troubles with injuries and lack of form. Recently, Badosa was rewarded by WTA for her incredible resilience in this season. She won the ‘Comeback Player of the Year’ Award! What was her reaction after winning this award?

Paula Badosa played 57 matches this season and she won 37 out of them! She was in great touch during the grass-court swing. Badosa reached the QF in Bad Homburg and then made it to the last 16 at the Wimbledon Championship. However, her best performance was kept reserved for the hard court swing after Wimbledon. Paula Badosa won the Citi Open and reached the SF in Cincinnati, Beijing, and Ningbo. Not only that, the Spaniard also managed to reach the QF of the 2024 US Open.

Badosa ended her 2023 season after Wimbledon due to a stress fracture in her back. So, the former world number 2 had a lot to prove this year and she yet again showed the world why she’s regarded as one of the best in women’s tennis. Considering these incredible runs in her comeback season, she was handed the ‘Comeback Player of the Year’ Award. Later, Paula Badosa shared a post on her Twitter account highlighting this incredible achievement and she captioned it with, “🥹❤️.” The other nominees for this award were Naomi Osaka, Karolina Muchova, Amanda Anisimova, and Emma Raducanu. However, the Spaniard had the last laugh!

Well, her close friend, Aryna Sabalenka won the WTA Player of the Year Award. The world’s number one won 4 titles this season and guess what? 2 out of them are Grand Slam titles (AO and the US Open). Emma Navarro won the Most Improved Player of the Year Award, while Lulu Sun won the Newcomer of the Year Award. Who won the Doubles Team of the Year Award, though? The Italian duo, Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani clinched that one!

With the 2025 season, knocking at the door, this award will surely do wonders to Paula Badosa’s confidence for the upcoming season. She looks in good mood at the moment! Just a couple of days ago she was even seen showcasing her dance moves with Carlos Silvestre, a tennis player from Venezuela. The jam session was most likely recorded in her house as the duo was seen enjoying the musical beats in the living room with the songs playing on the TV in the background.

On the other side, we’re seeing players like Badosa mixing up some fun sessions in the middle of their preparations for the upcoming season.
