Venus and Serena Williams’ rise in the tennis world is an inspiring story. Born and brought up in a humble background, they were introduced to tennis by their father, Richard Williams. Subsequently, he brought them to the public tennis courts in Compton to train while the two were very young.

Further, the Williams sisters worked hard daily to strive for a career in tennis. A few years later, Rick Macci joined them as he became Serena and Venus’ first professional coach. Under the guidance of Richard and Macci, Serena and Venus began to dominate women’s tennis.

During an interview, the seven-time Grand Slam champion once talked about how strict her mother was with Serena and her. Talking about an episode from her childhood days, Venus said, “I was 10 years old. I wasn’t in the drugs scene. I guess some kids around me had to grow up quickly, had all those problems. But I wasn’t one of those kids, or around those kids, not at all.”
Further, she went on to add, “But our Mom was so cruel! I’m always telling her that! We were so deprived!”

While Serena announced her retirement at last month’s US Open, Venus is striving to end her career on a high. However, with age not by her side, it remains to be seen till when Venus can continue on the WTA Tour.

Serena said, “She (Venus Williams) is not done yet. This is just me. … She’s trying to get me, and I’m like, ‘No.'” The Williams sisters also played doubles together at the 2022 US Open for one final time. However, their campaign ended in the first round of the tournament.
