Jabeur stormed the clay-court season and achieved the ranking of World no.3 alongside her 1st WTA 1000 trophy. Thereafter, she beat players such as Maria Sakkari to book a match with Iga Swiatek in the finals of the Italian Open. Although she failed to claim her second master’s title, she grew in terms of ranking. Therefore, now with the help of her brilliant runs, Jabeur has touched another milestone.
Ons Jabeur brings pride to her nation
Though the Tunisian No.1 failed to secure a good run at Roland Garros, her performance in Rome and Berlin moved her upwards on the ranking table. On 27th June, Jabeur claimed the highest ranking of her career when she rose to World No.2. However, that’s not all. Another aspect of her achievement is that she became the first ever African to be the WTA world number 2.
Ons Jabeur rises to a new career high of No.2 today, meaning she is now the highest ranked African singles player of all time.

Jabeur currently is riding high on form. However, the only player capable of dragging her down and slipping titles out of her hands is the World No.1 Iga Swiatek. Though the 27-year-old, earlier this year, suffered a defeat in the finals against the Swiss Belinda Bencic, she avenged her defeat in the fourth round of the Madrid Open and again in Berlin.
Further, she also took down the 2022 French Open runner-up Coco Gauff in the semifinals of Berlin as well. Thus leaving only Iga Swiatek. Although their head-to-head records are tied up at two victories each, Swiatek is currently in a monstrous winning seat of 35 matches.
