Bianca Andreescu, the Canadian tennis star, hit the headlines when she outclassed the 23 times Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams, in the 2019 US Open. Following that, she made it to the finals of the Miami Open 2021 by thrashing high-caliber players such as Sakkari. Although the Canadian didn’t win the masters 1000 title at Miami, she made it into the list of promising players.

However, her game went down a steep slope, and she made an initial round exit in multiple tournaments after Miami. Thereafter, she incurred an injury that fueled her falling self-belief and later made her take a mental health break. Bianca took a five-month break to heal herself and spoke about her experience in a recent interview.

Bianca Andreescu Speaks About Her Charity Work

Andreescu made a comeback in Stuttgart Open. Although she gave a subpar performance at the tournament, it helped her bring her game back on track. Post her victory in the second round of the Madrid Open, she spoke about how she devoted her time to social work during her break for mental healing. She said, “It was mainly volunteer work. I volunteered at a women’s domestic violence shelter. And I also volunteered at a Sick Kids Hospital.”

“I did some videos for some patients that were struggling a lot physically. Just to see the look on their face like, you know, they did reaction videos, just makes my whole day. So I’m very grateful for that experience.” She added.

Bianca Andreescu believes in maintaining mental health. In fact, she meditates regularly to ward off ill thoughts. Therefore, her desire to help people who are suffering from mental calamities is justified. Further, she addressed how she wanted people to take the seriousness of domestic violence into more consideration. Bianca said, “I feel that it’s not something that not discussed often, first of all. It’s starting to be more discussed now. I know some people in my life that have gone through something like that, and it’s one of the most traumatic things ever. I felt super connected with it.”

“Who knows, maybe one day I will create my own thing. I have a lot of ideas that I don’t know exactly yet, but I definitely have ideas, and like actually being in that environment really helps me to, you know, eventually come to that decision.” She added.
