The action-packed clay-court season came to a thrilling end at the recently concluded French Open. With a packed tennis schedule, the action quickly moves to the grass-court season, with multiple tournaments underway. Although not many top players are playing this week while opting for rest after a hectic Roland Garros, some stars are looking to return to their best. Among them is the former US Open champion, Emma Raducanu.

While also suffering from injuries, the British tennis star has had a hot and cold season. However, she returns to one of her favorite surfaces at the Nottingham Open, where she faces Daria Snigur next.

Raducanu had to cut short her clay-court season owing to an injury. She missed the French Open as a result, which was a damaging blow to her season. Nonetheless, she aims to make amends on grass and had an emphatic victory in the opening round in Nottingham, where she crushed Ena Shibahara in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. Meanwhile, Raducanu is yet to go beyond the quarterfinal stage of a tournament this season. Despite the inconsistent form, the Nottingham Open presents a golden opportunity for Raducanu to improve her record this year.

On the other hand, 22-year-old Daria Snigur has played on the ITF Tour consistently this year. She has already won a couple of titles this year and even reached the finals of one ITF tournament in the Czech Republic. In the opening round in Nottingham, she got the better of her compatriot, Marta Kostyuk. Snigur will look to carry forward her winning run when she takes on Raducanu next.

Raducanu vs Snigur: Head-to-Head

While Raducanu has been playing on the WTA Tour, Snigur has mainly featured in ITF Tournaments, apart from some WTA 1000 tournaments and Grand Slams. As a result, the two haven’t come up against each other and the second-round clash in Nottingham will be their first meeting.

Prediction: Raducanu to breeze past Snigur

Although the form speaks otherwise, the British star is poised to win her encounter against Snigur in straight sets. Raducanu’s tour-level experience will give her the upper hand against Snigur, who is not a familiar name on the WTA Tour. Their round-of-16 match is scheduled for tomorrow, with Raducanu also having the home advantage. All-in-all, it promises to be a cracker of a contest between the experienced Raducanu and the giant killer Snigur.
