Although Serena Williams has retired from tennis, her older sister, Venus Williams, is still going strong. Absent from much of the WTA tour this season, Venus is looking forward to stepping back on the court. She has trained continuously and finally received a chance to shine once again. The elder Williams sister will play in a tournament held in the Netherlands.
Venus Williams struggled with injuries throughout her career. However, she was dealt with one of her worst blows in recent times at the start of the year. While she received a wild card for the Australian Open, she had to withdraw at the last moment, citing a hamstring injury. Williams has relentlessly teased her fans with training videos on her Instagram profile this season. The seven-time grand slam champion did not return for any Master’s tournaments for the hard court or the clay court season. However, she has finally announced the news of her return. Queen V will officially step on the court in the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships, also known as the Libéma Open.
Interviewed by the press, who wanted to know more about her return to tennis on the grass courts in the Netherlands, Williams said she was more than happy to be in the country. “No one is happier to be here than I am,” she told NOS, a Dutch news outlet. She continued by saying, “But of course, I’m not just here to be happy. I’m here to show the public fun and good tennis. And myself, of course.”
