‘Nobody Saw It Coming’ – Emma Navarro’s Sudden ‘Ninja’ Jumps in WTA Tour Has Monica Puig Stunned

Puig shared her thoughts in an interview with Tennis Channel, where she talked about her exhibition match against Venus Williams and the ongoing Miami Open. As per Puig, “She moved up the rankings in ninja mode because that was like nobody saw it coming. She just went about her business. Did the work put in the hard yards, and all of a sudden, she’s exactly where she needs to be, and the results speak for themselves.“

Puig further said, “We’re talking about consistency. She has shown consistency time and time again. I really love her forehand, I love how she hits the ball, I love that she is not afraid to come to the net, I love her attitude on the court. I think it’s really, really good.”

Elaborating on Emma Navarro’s calmness, Puid added, “If stuff is not working out or really going well, she’s just, you know, there. She just keeps trying, keeps at it, doesn’t really start whining and complaining and all of this stuff.”

Emma Navarro has undoubtedly impressed tennis stars of yesteryear. Her efforts have also impressed American tennis star Jessica Pegula, who will be her teammate as the Billie Jean King Cup comes around.

The American squad at the BJK Cup consists of Pegula, Navarro, Madison Keys, Caroline Dolehide, and Taylor Townsend. Pegula spoke with Tennis Channel after obtaining a walkover from Zhu Lin at the Miami Open, stating that Navarro has been playing the ‘best’. 

Pegula said, “I think we’re all playing really good tennis. I think any of us could play for sure. Doesn’t matter ranking or whatever. We’ve all been playing really good. Emma’s been having an amazing start to the year. I feel like she’s been playing the best out of anyone, really.”

The hype surrounding Emma Navarro began as she won the Hobart International. She also defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the Indian Wells Masters and will now help the American BJK team wreak havoc against their opponents.
