After a pregnant Serena Williams won the US Open without dropping a set, she took a paid maternity break. Her sponsor, Nike, granted full pay to the American legend throughout 2017. When the American legend was pregnant with Olympia, her husband, Alexis Ohanian, realized that a paid family leave is crucial for the well-being of all involved. He became the biggest advocator for the same after Serena’s near-death post-natal experience. In June, Ohanian’s fight made it to the GMA3 show on ABC News, in which congressional representative Colin Allred raised the paid family leave issue. Now, Ohanian has taken the charge straight back into NFL territory again!
The former NFL player turned politician is running for the U.S. Senate. Ohanian’s vision has great potential to be implemented on a large scale if Allred wins. Recently, an NFL analyst received paid maternity leave, and Papa Ohanian celebrated the move by sharing a sweet message to the soon-to-be-mama.

Serena Williams’ husband extends his joy and support to the NFL reporter
Momma Smash’s health complications during childbirth were horrendous, and Ohanian revealed it to be traumatizing. Since the Seven Seven Six’s founder was aware of paternal leave, he stood up for himself and took a sixteen-week paternity leave to care for his family. But what about the people who had to choose between family and earnings?
This question bothered the tech titan, and he started to do his part in advocating for paid parental leave without any cuts. When the news of ESPN’s NFL analyst, Mina Kimes, paid material leave broke, Ohanian expressed his heartfelt wishes to her. He shared a video posted by AAJA Sports on X, in which ESPN paid a heartwarming tribute to its NFL panelist.
Kimes’ colleagues shared sweet messages for him,r and the video was aired live on ESPN. Sharing this clip, Ohanian wrote, “Keep normalizing #PaidFamilyLeave — all the best @minakimes & have a great maternity leave!! We’re all excited for you to come back, but we know some things in life are, in fact, even more important than football.”

When Serena and Ohanian’s second daughter, Adira River, was born, the Reddit co-founder prioritized his family. He reminded people of the pending work and his determination to normalize paid parental, especially paternity leave. ReRe’s husband also reminisced about a first-step victory after Allred extended his support.

Alexis Ohanian shared vital maternity leave stats as he recalled a crucial win
The American investor shared a heartfelt post on his Instagram over a week ago. The caption read, “I started this fight when Olympia was born because I realized how lucky I was and we took the fight to Congress and did get 12 weeks of parental leave for all federal employees (and recently including military!) — we have much more to do. More to come.”
Ohanian is currently on paternity leave and spending quality time with his family. But he is also aware of the responsibility he assumed. However, the millionaire entrepreneur derives inspiration from the vice president of people and culture, Katelin Holloway. Serena’s husband actively played his part in making the idea turn into reality.

The tech titan stated that in the US, 1 in every four women return to work within two weeks of delivering a child. Ohanian’s vision supporter, Allred, declared that he is trying to legally ensure that every American is entitled to paid family leave. The U.S. Representative also shared that it is a long battle, and they are determined to fight it for the Americans.
