It’s been almost two weeks since Raducanu’s triumph in New York and the Brit is stil reliving the final moments of the championship match against Leylah Fernandez. Earlier today, Raducanu participated in an event hosted by the LTA Youth Program in London.
The British teenage star had the opportunity to play tennis with the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. Also, on the professional front, the youngster took a decisive move before making a comeback on the WTA tour.
Right now, it’s almost imperative that the Indian Wells organizers will offer a wildcard to Emma Raducanu to play the event. Even though she is still unclear of where her next tournament will be, the Brit announced her decision to split from her current coach, Andrew Richardson.
“Looking for someone who has been at that level” – Emma Raducanu on split with coach
The move came as a surprise because it was under Richardson that Emma got her first big triumph but she backed her reason saying that she needs someone who has more experience coaching on the WTA tour.
“I’m looking for someone who has been at that level and knows what it takes. And especially right now because I’m so new to it, I really need someone to guide me who’s already been through that”, explained Raducanu.
Richardson, during his playing days, managed to capture five doubles titles along with victory at a solo singles event in the JSM Challenger of Champaign.
Even though he worked with several British players like Ross Hutchins and Alan Mackin, Richardson didn’t have relative experience with coaching on the WTA tour.
From this stand point, Raducanu’s decision to look out for a new coach to show her the way to the top appears fair.
“At the time, I thought Andrew would be a great coach to trial so we went to the States but never did I even dream of winning the U.S. Open and having the run I did and now I’m ranked No. 22 in the world, which is pretty crazy to me.”, continued the Brit.

But, Raducanu won’t be taking the decision anytime soon and will wait till the end of the season to look out for a new coach.
Having ranked inside top-30 in such a quick time, it might take a while for Emma Raducanu to maintain consistency at the highest level in order to sustain her leap in the singles ranking.
