Alexis Ohanian, the American entrepreneur, recently shared a motivational message for all young startups. He shared a tough message for his haters who had doubted his skills at the beginning of his exemplary journey. The ‘Mayor of the Internet’ has spent the majority of his professional life investing on ventures and capital firms.

He tied the knot with the legendary tennis ace, Serena Williams, in 2017. Since then, he has also helped his wife in her business endeavors while supporting her while she was active on the WTA Tour. He and his daughter have often cheered for Serena from the stands.

Alexis Ohanian feels that there will always be ‘haters’ in his life. The best course of action, according to him, is to use one’s critics as fuel. He tweeted, “I love constructive declines. People (even great investors) will be wrong more than they’re right..” An executive from Yahoo had given him his best ammunition.

One of the reasons businessman Alexis Ohanian has been so successful, maybe because he uses the criticism of others as motivation. According to Forbes, the Mayor of the Internet is estimated to be worth more than $70 million. He was also named in the prestigious 30 under 30 list.

Ohanian clearly announced that haters are the ones he feeds on. The doting husband of Serena Williams recently discussed how he used his critics to motivate him in his professional life. He also mentioned that an executive once told him that his pitch was “the dumbest pitch” he’s ever heard.

Ohanian had once stated that he believed a meeting with Yahoo was related to a possible purchase of Reddit. When the Yahoo executive questioned the scope of Reddit, the meeting was abruptly called to an end. Ohanian noted that when Reddit overtook Yahoo in traffic five years later, it was a satisfying sight to behold.

Ohanian once shut down a Serena hater

The billionaire director of the Madrid Open, Ion Țiriac, had once remarked that if Williams had even a modicum of decency, she would give up tennis. Considering her age and weight, Tiriac had also advised the then 39-year-old to stop competing professionally. It didn’t sit well with Ohanian, who defended her and chastised the 81-year-old on Twitter.

Later that day, the Reddit co-founder made a clear jab at Tiriac on Twitter that he wouldn’t hold back when a racist or sexist with a platform came for his family.
