In the past, players like Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios have opened up about getting inspired by Bryant. Recently, another tennis star, Jessica Pegula revealed getting motivated by him.
The 29-year-old is enjoying the best phase of her tennis career. She has risen to Number 3 on the WTA singles rankings chart. Additionally, she is also present in the top 10 of the doubles ranking. Here’s what Pegula said about the influence of Bryant.

During an interview, the American tennis star talked about Kobe’s illustrious career and how he inspired and motivated her to achieve greatness. She did so on a special occasion, Kobe Bryant Day, as his legacy is celebrated on this day.
Talking about him, Pegula said, “He was always one of my biggest inspiration. When he retired, I read so much about his career, his game and his mindset—his Mamba Mentality of having to be the best version of yourself every single day and every moment. That just really spoke true to me.”
Further, she went on to add, “He was the same person that said, If you’re not giving back to your sport or your next generation then what are you really doing this for?’ Kobe’s journey really was the entire dream for him. I think that was really cool, and spoke true to how I want to have my career.”
The 29-year-old is gearing up for the US Open. Before the tournament, she opened up on a noble cause.

Pegula on helping dogs
The world number 3 revealed how she engages in a noble cause for the betterment of dogs. Alongside her husband, she co-manages a charity named A Lending Paw. It is about rescuing dogs and nurturing them to transform them into service animals. It is a wonderful initiative by the tennis star, helping several rescue dogs find homes.
