The anime community is mourning the loss of the legendary Japanese manga artist and character designer, Akira Toriyama. With his iconic works like the Dragon Ball series and popular games like Chrono Trigger, Toriyama has set a path of wild imagination and creativity for many fans. The manga artist’s passing at the age of 68 has saddened many anime and gaming fans, including Naomi Osaka‘s boyfriend, Cordae.

From collecting figurines to watching many popular series, the American rapper has long been a part of the anime fandom. As the anime and manga communities mourn the passing of Toriyama, Cordae recently came forward to pay a heartfelt tribute on social media.

The official IGN page recently commemorated some of Akira Toriyama’s iconic works in their latest Instagram post. It stated, “Akira Toriyama, creator of the Dragon Ball series has passed away at the age of 68. He is a legend in anime and gaming, his work includes Dr. Slump, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, and other classic works.” While resharing the post on his Instagram story, Cordae said, “Watching DBZ all weekend for bro.”

Toriyama’s profound influence on anime fans has been beyond words, with many, including Naomi Osaka’s boyfriend, flocking to Instagram to commemorate some of his iconic works and express their condolences. This is not the first time that Cordae has talked about his love for many popular animes, including Dragon Ball.

In a previous conversation with Highsnobiety, the American rapper expressed his honest reaction to a $3K Naruto figurine. Meanwhile, Cordae also opened up about how he likes to watch ‘basic’ anime like Dragon Ball Z and Naruto. He said, “It’s a Naruto Uzumaki figure, you see; that’s kind of dope, but not $3500 dope. I would cop that if it lost 2-0, like, I will pay 350 for that, and I’ll have to drop that.”
