Naomi Osaka‘s former coach Sascha Bajin is on the news again but not for a great reason. After his separation from the Japanese Grand Slam winner, Bajin fell under many controversies. While this German coach couldn’t have a long professional partnership with any of his pupils, be it Karolina Pliskova or Dayana Yastremska, he won WTA Coach of the Year recognition in 2018 for helping Osaka win both the US Open and Indian Wells titles that year. However, in a surprising turn of events, Bajin faced another setback as a coach as his pupil Alycia Parks sought separation within two months of collaboration.

A reliable tennis source recently shared the news of Alycia Parks’s alleged split with her coach Sascha Bajin. “Also, Alycia has not been working with Sascha Bajin since Miami (their partnership lasted for two tournaments). So yeah I’m not sure what her coaching situation is like at the moment” tweeted the fan on their X (formerly Twitter).

Fans spotted a screenshot with the tweet, which showed a fan asking Bajin about Parks’s troubled forehand technique and why she wasn’t playing well. In his response, Bajin confirmed that the duo stopped working in Miami. After that, fans got the confirmation that Bajin was no longer working with Parks.

Parks started working with Bajin during this year’s Indian Wells tour as she wanted to perform almost perfectly on the courts of the BNP Paribas Open. Parks was spotted with Bajin, who happened to be Naomi Osaka’s ex-coach, which started the rumors of these two working together. However, within two months of their professional collaboration, they ended it.

This German coach fell under the radar of controversy when Naomi Osaka’s autobiography revealed the reason for their split. According to Osaka, Bajin allegedly dated a rival player and even asked her to practice with her without confirming his relationship with the player. Hearing rumors when Osaka questioned Bajin about the affair, he accepted it. This broke Naomi Osaka’s trust and she chose not to continue with this misunderstanding.

On the other hand, for Alycia Parks, although the 2024 season kicked off well, she ultimately went downwards after her Australian Open performance. Parks reached the Australian Open’s third round before losing to Coco Gauff. After that, this American tennis star won only one set match on her WTA tour. In fact, this former Indian Wells champion couldn’t qualify for any WTA 1000 tours this season leaving the fraternity disappointed. “Alycia Parks in 2024 since reaching the AusOpen 3rd round: 12 consecutive losses, 1 set won. Lost her last 22 sets played…,” tweeted tennis journalist Jose Morgado on his official X (formerly Twitter).

Parks also ended her Indian Wells dream this year after losing to Kayla Day in the tour’s qualifier round by 5-1 and 6-4. Now, this American WTA star suffered her 12th straight defeat at the Italian Open qualifier round. In her match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Parks managed to win only two sets before losing to her by 6-1 and 6-1.

Following Alycia Parks’s performance this season, her split with her coach has made her fans anxious for her French Open ambitions. However, Bajin’s conflict with his pupils is not new. Besides Osaka and Parks, he collaborated with Karolina Pliskova twice and yet couldn’t manage to have a long coaching partnership.

Karolina Pliskova and Sascha Bajin started working together in 2021 and separated in 2022. Ahead of the 2023 season, they collaborated again and finally ended their partnership for the second time last year in July. Despite two unsuccessful ventures together, Bajin wished Pliskova the best in her attempt to win a Grand Slam. “Hey @KaPliskova thanks for giving it another go with me,” he wrote on Twitter. “Thank you for all the fun moments and memories created. All the best from me to you and good luck at the US Open. Hope you get your [Grand S]lam” tweeted Bajin.
