Naomi Osaka talked to people from InStyle in an interview where she shared that during her pregnancy she was detected to have a bacterial infection which can be passed on to the child as well. On top of that, she learned about Tori Bowie, the Olympic track and field champion, who passed away during her 8th month of pregnancy due to multiple health issues. Osaka couldn’t hide her stress level after knowing this: “I was kind of starting to freak out a little bit.”
While sharing her journey of pregnancy, Osaka also mentioned how she thought of writing her will as well to protect her child in case she failed to make it. However, she dropped the plan of writing her will thinking that having a will might make anything bad more likely to occur.
She said, “I don’t think people know how hard pregnancy is; no one really talks about it as much. Going into it, you kind of think: Oh, it’s this beautiful journey. But it’s kind of rough.” She also added how during labor, she felt that this was the worst pain of her life and if she can surpass this then everything else will be easy going forward.
