When it comes to love, Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka has always been a champion. Five years and one baby later, the WTA star still gets heart in her eyes for rapper Cordae Dunston Amari. In a recent confession, she expressed her love for her beau by picking him over what some would consider the be-all and end-all choice for her. 

Hana Kuma, Osaka’s story-driven creative house, shared a video where the former US Open champion was asked to choose her favorite rapper from two options. The winner would stay and compete with the next choice. Starting with Eminem and Dr Drake, Osaka chose the latter; she then shifted to Jay Z and finally stuck to Nicki Minaj till the end.

However, there was a sudden surprise when the interviewer asked her to choose between Cordae and Minaj. Osaka selected Cordae after some consideration. While Hana Kuma captioned her as “a TRUE hip hop connoisseur,” Osaka also channeled her pride and love for her partner’s talent in music.

Osaka has always shown love for Cordae’s music. In December 2023, this WTA star shared an interesting Instagram story and was spotted enjoying Cordae’s Chronicles (fear H.E.R). While grooving to the music, she added a caption expressing how much she enjoyed the tune. “this song hits no matter the occasion,” wrote Osaka. Last year in August, Osaka shared a screenshot of her phone screen on her Instagram Story, showing off her partner’s song Make Up Your Mind being played.

In 2022, this WTA star interestingly promoted Cordae’s album after winning her opening match in the Australian Open. Post-victory, she took the camera lens to write “F.A.B.E.V“, an abbreviation for Cordae’s album “From a Birds Eye View“ released at that time. Osaka’s gesture not only showed her support for her boyfriend but also expressed her love for Cordae’s music. She also delved deeper into how much she admires Cordae’s song-making process.

Usually an introvert, Osaka was asked in 2022 about her thoughts when she came across her partner’s songs with lyrics that feature her. Osaka said, “It doesn’t cross my mind that often because he always asks permission,” After that, she delved deeper and mentioned, “But, yeah, I mean, I feel like that’s the most amazing part about it. He actually writes his lyrics. He has to take the time to actually experience the things that he does. It’s a really fascinating process.”
