At the 2020 US Open, she wore masks with the names of different black Americans throughout the tournament. The step was her way to show support for the Black Lives Matter protest.

Recently, Osaka uploaded a story on her Instagram about Ketanji Brown Jackson becoming the first-ever black woman to serve on the supreme court. The 24-year-old was happy to share this historic moment with all of her Instagram followers.
The announcement in the story read, “Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson confirmed as first black woman to the US Supreme Court.”

Osaka so far in 2022
As far as her tennis is concerned, Osaka started her 2022 season at the Melbourne Summer Set 1, reaching the semifinals. Eyeing a title defense, she next entered the Australian Open. However, struggling to find her game, Osaka failed to defend her Melbourne Park crown, losing in the 3rd round. Following her loss, she took some time away from the court.

After being out for about a month and a half, she made a comeback at the Indian Wells Masters. However, Osaka suffered a mental breakdown owing to the questionable behavior of the crowd and subsequently suffered a second-round exit. Nonetheless, the four-time Major champion made a strong comeback in Miami to reach the finals. She was unable to cross the final hurdle, losing to Iga Swiatek in straight sets in the summit clash.
