Naomi Osaka has had a disappointing 2022 season. Earlier this year, she failed to defend her Australian Open title, losing in the third round against Amanda Anisimova. Further, she made an early exit at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells before finishing second best in Miami. At the French Open this year, the Japanese star lost in the opening round, once again to Anisimova.

Along with her wavering form, Osaka has been suffering from an Achilles injury. The injury forced her to miss the grass-court season, including the recently concluded Wimbledon Championships. In the midst of a disappointing season, she gave her fans something to cheer about, as she announced some good news ahead of the hard-court season.
Naomi Osaka confirms her next tournament
Earlier this week, the 24-year-old confirmed her participation at the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic. The WTA 500 tournament will commence on August 1 in San Jose, United States.

Osaka is looking to win her first title this season in the hard court swing. It is a phase of the season that the Japanese star has enjoyed over the years in her career, as she has won two of her four Grand Slam titles at the US Open.
Osaka back to where it all started
The four-time Grand Slam champion had made her WTA main-draw debut at the Silicon Valley Classic in 2014. Back then, Osaka was just 16 years old. In the opening round of that tournament, she defeated Australia’s Sam Stosur in a three-set thriller. However, she lost out to Andrea Petkovic in the next round. The tournament was eventually won by Serena Williams.
