Injury in a player’s career is something that isn’t under one’s control, be it Serena Williams, Roger Federer, or any other player. You sustain an injury and recover from it. There are chances of that injury resurfacing, yet you get a chance to recover from it completely.

But what if it’s an accident that has the potential to end your career on a sad note? That’s what Serena Williams had to go through. The 40-year-old faced horror times when she injured both her feet.
That lethal injury of Serena Williams
Back in 2010, in the month of July, Serena stumbled on shattered glass and injured herself. This incident took place when they were leaving a restaurant in Munich. The American confessed that she was terrified for both her life and career during the long layoff that followed the tragedy.
“To this day I don’t really know the full details of what happened,” she said while talking to the BBC back in 2011.
She further went on to add, “I was walking and just felt something. I kept walking, and it was definitely glass there. There was a massive puddle of blood and I ended up fainting and needed stitches in both feet. I didn’t know then, but it was a torn ligament. I just know my toe was kind of hanging. They said it would be fine or that’s what I thought, but it ended up not being fine.“
The unbelievable achievements
Serena went on to achieve things even after the injury. That never stopped her from reaching new heights.

In 2012, she first achieved Olympic success by winning the singles and doubles world titles. Again, after the next two years, she won the French Open for the third time, becoming only the third woman in history to accomplish this feat across all four Grand Slam tournaments in 2015. She won her 20th Grand Slam tournament with that victory.
As if that weren’t enough, she went on to win four consecutive Grand Slam tournaments that same year. These are just a handful of the milestones she achieved on the way to a brilliant career.
