Despite achieving global stardom, including a 2023 US Open victory and a World No. 3 ranking, Coco Gauff, at 20, remains remarkably grounded. As the highest-paid female athlete in 2024, with an income exceeding $30 million, and having recently moved into her first home in Florida, she could easily be consumed by luxury. Yet, Coco continues to display a down-to-earth personality, proving that fame and fortune haven’t changed her core.
The young American is currently in Australia where she will soon participate in the United Cup. After that, her new season will kick off with the Australian Open in mid January. Before all this, in an interaction with the official account of the Australian Open on Instagram, dated December 26, Gauff debunked many assumptions surrounding her. Especially when it comes to her daily routine and lifestyle.
Many fans may think just because she’s extremely famous, she might not be involved in normal things like doing household work or fetching items from the market. But guess what? She’s exactly the opposite of that. You know obviously I know, like in tennis, a lot of people look up to me, in my generation as well. But for me it’s just doing something that I love and have an opportunity to inspire other people to do what they love. You know, I don’t take[it] for granted,” the American tennis player began.

“Especially, when I’m on TikTok, I think a lot of, people, sometimes forget that we’re, you know, athletes are also humans too, like, sometimes I’ll get comments like saying, ‘Oh I didn’t know she did that’ or, ‘I didn’t know she, like, goes to the store,'” she revealed.
“I remember I did a Friends-giving meal and somebody was like, ‘I know, I thought you would have a chef.’ I’m like ‘No, I’m like, just a girl who plays tennis. And other than that, my life is pretty normal,'” she added. Gauff wanted to convey that for her “it’s just, just having an opportunity to do what I love and inspire people to do what they love. But also knowing that their dreams aren’t as far away people think they are.”

Coco Gauff spends fun time with family and her longtime coach
Few days back, Gauff shared a picture on her Instagram account. She was inside a flight with her mother Candi, her father Cori, and her brothers. But Jean-Christophe Faurel also joined her. He’s her longtime trainer who’s been with the young tennis sensation for years now. “Family trip plus @jeanchristopherfaurel 🤣❤️.” she wrote while giving a sweet caption to the photo.
For the unversed, Jean and Gauff’s partnership first began over six years ago when she was just 14. He was also part of her team during the 2019 Wimbledon when she became the youngest player(at 15 years and three months) ever to qualify for the grass court event. In 2020, however, the duo parted ways but then joined forces once again earlier this year in April.

While expressing her honest thoughts on the player-coach relationship with Jean, Gauff once said, “It’s nice to have someone on my team that knows me since I was young and knows me well. So I’m really, really excited to have him back on the team.”
As of now, Gauff’s avid fans will want her to make a huge impact under Jean at the Australian Open next month. In 2024 season, she did manage to reach the SF round but couldn’t get past World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka who beat her 7-6, 6-4. This time, the 20-year-old would like to improve her record and do one better. Will she eventually lift her first Australian Open trophy in 2025? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
