The WTA Finals 2021 have begun and fans are exhilarated about the year-end tournament. Interestingly, it is for the first time in 21 years that two Spanish players will be featuring in the singles category of the tournament. While Paula Badosa will be making her debut, Garbine Muguruza will be playing in the tournament for the fourth time.
The WTA Finals 2021 are taking in Guadalajara, Mexico this year. They started on November 10, 2021 and will extend till November 17, 2021.

Paula Badosa lavishes praise on Garbine Muguruza
In the pre-tournament press conference, Spain’s Badosa hailed her compatriot, Muguruza. She highlighted that the 2-time Grand Slam champion broke every single stereotype and brought a big revolution in Spanish tennis.
“She is a player who has always been a mirror in which to look at myself. She broke all the stereotypes. Such a dynamic and aggressive game was not common in Spanish tennis,” said Badosa in the interview.

“An honor to have two Spanish women”- Badosa
In the same press conference, Badosa revealed that she really liked Muguruza’s gameplay while growing up and considers Garbine her favorite tennis player. She stated that she is slowly reaching her level and also remarked that it is an honor that two Spanish players are playing at the WTA Finals this year.
“She is tall, different, my favorite. She has a game that I loved when I was growing up. I have always said that I would like to go where she has arrived. I am getting closer to her level and it’s an honor to have two Spanish women here,” added the Indian Wells 2021 winner.

Unfortunately, Garbine Muguruza lost her first match against Karolina Pliskova at the WTA Finals 2021. On the other hand, Paula Badosa will begin her campaign against Aryna Sabalenka today. Will either of the Spaniards be able to conquer Guadalajara this year?
