Evert’s parents were not happy when she parted ways with John Lloyd
Evert married John Lloyd back in 1979 at a very young age. The couple remained together for the next eight years. However, their marriage fell apart, and they decided to split up in 1987. The decision was mutual, and both Evert and Lloyd moved on in their lives. However, Evert’s parents were not happy with her decision.
Going through a tough phase in her life, Evert’s good friend Martina Navratilova invited her to Aspen, and Evert traveled there to be with her. Here’s what the former world number recalled of that time in an interview.
“Both my parents were really sad and disappointed. My mum wrote me a letter. My dad didn’t talk to me. It was because my dad wasn’t talking to me that Martina invited me to Aspen,” Evert said.
