Aryna Sabalenka seems all set to leave behind what happened in Australia and look forward in her 2025 season. The defeat in the final at Rod Laver Arena against Madison Keys wasn’t easy to forget. But the three-time Major winner and World No.1 player isn’t one to mourn on her disappointments. She’s now gearing for her comeback with the next WTA event in Qatar. To make sure she performs in the best way possible, Sabalenka is going through intense training sessions with her team. But as has been the tradition lately, you can’t expect to not have a funny moment or two when the Belarusian is working out with her team. So what was she up to this time?
Ahead of kickstarting her campaign at the Qatar Open next week, Sabalenka shared a clip on her Instagram story on Friday. In the video, she was seen training with coach Anton Dubrov. However, their style of training was just hilarious to say the least. The two leaned by the wall in an upside-down position, trying to match with the beats of a track running in the background. To Sabalenka’s surprise, Dubrov nailed this routine quite well. She couldn’t help but appreciate his efforts and she simply wrote, “My coach is better than yours 😂”
But this isn’t the first time the World No.1 has flaunted her cheeky side on social media. She’s known for having lighthearted moments with her teammates. Remember what she did during her stint at the Australian Open last month?

Ahead of her campaign down under, Sabalenka had posted an entertaining video on her Instagram account. In the clip, dated January 8, she was seen showing off some cool dance moves. Now, what made it hilarious was the assistance given by her team comprising of Jason Stacy, Andrei Vasilevski, and Anton Dubrov. “Back on the dance floor- I mean tennis court… 🤪” she wrote in the caption.
But is there a specific reason behind Sabalenka’s fun sessions during training before her matches? Yes. She did throw light on this aspect on a previous occasion. So what did she say?

Fun moments help Aryna Sabalenka “to have a balance”
In an interaction with Harper’s BAZAAR Australia, Aryna Sabalenka talked about having entertaining moments during practice sessions. Considering how hectic her schedule can get at times, constantly traveling between tours, things do get exhausting. Hence, it’s important to just relax sometimes. Reflecting this sentiment, she revealed, “It’s really important to have a balance because if you’re on the go all the time, it just can be really, really bad for you in the long term…”
Adding to her explanation, she said, “There are times where it’s tournament after tournament, so I only have one day off, and then start everything from the beginning again. But if it’s [after] a big tournament … I have about four days just to chill, enjoy, relax, and recharge.”

In fact, the three-time Slam winner even advised other tennis pros to follow a similar routine. “You have to be positive because it’s enough tension on court. If you’re gonna bring this tension off-court, it’s just too much.” Well, she’s right in her approach, given her heartbreaking loss down under last month. At Rod Laver Arena, she was on the verge of clinching a third successive AO title. In 2023 and 2024, she was the champion. Unfortunately, Madison Keys broke her hopes and lifted her maiden Slam trophy.
But now, it seems Sabalenka is ready to set her sights on the next tournament. She will step on the court with the Qatar Open, starting from February 11. As of now, it’s not confirmed who will be her opponent in the first round. What are your thoughts on the Belarusian’s chances in Qatar? Will she make a deep run there and eventually win the title?
