Rennae Stubbs on Serena Williams and her daughter, Olympia
When Serena announced that she’d compete for the title at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, there was speculation that she might’ve wanted to do it for her daughter; the achievement would be big for her to win the tournament as a mother.
“I think she has gotten to the point, finally, where she knows it’s not gonna define her as who she is. And I think great champions over time realize that it doesn’t define them. And I think she is getting to the point, just because she is a mom now.

“I think what was motivating her more than the record was winning the Grand Slam as a mom and showing her daughter that moment, that trophy,” said Rennae.

Olympia is one of the top celebrity kids in the world, and is arguably more social media-popular than both her parents. Her cuteness and adorable nature have gained her fans from around the world. The most brilliant thing is that she is always there to support her mother on court with her father, Alexis.
“Olympia is with her all the time and she is so great and awesome to be around. She is just so in love with her mom and they have such a great relationship.
“So for me, it was more about her winning a Grand Slam as a mom. I think that meant more to her than actually passing the record. If not more, certainly on equal terms,” said Rennae.
