Seems like Qinwen Zheng can’t have a moment of rest from catching flak. Embroiled in controversies and upsetting remarks by her rivals in the past, the Chinese star headlined once again after enacting an unusual on-court demeanor during her summit clash with Aryna Sabalenka at the Wuhan Open.
Both players showcased pure class action in Wuhan after firing their best form. Sabalenka was quick off the line, steadily clinching the opening set without facing much resistance, however, Zheng didn’t back out easily. After upping her performance, the Olympic gold medalist secured the second set and forced a decider. Amid the nerving circumstances, Zheng notably lost her cool and blasted a line judge for apparently hampering her game. This, in turn, did not receive a welcoming response from fans.
Irked with her behavior, the Chinese sensation had a plethora of fans take shots at her, following her ‘uncalled-for’ act in Wuhan. The fans took to their social media to voice their concerns.

Another fan was upset – to put it mildly – with the young talent’s outcries in Wuhan and further lambasted her for resorting to unethical ways to win. The fan seemed to be rooting for Zheng’s Belarusian rival Aryna Sabalenka, who won the contest in the final set. “Qinwen SCREAMING at a line judge and BLAMING him for being in the way when she was NOWHERE NEAR HIM. Oh, you are trash. And would use any kind of tactic to win. Let’s go SABALENKA!!!!”

One fan was quick to note that Zheng’s attitude spoke volumes and the world could finally see that, “being rude and disrespectful to the umpire—nothing new there. I’m glad everyone can finally see how terrible her behavior is. Even happier she lost today!”Another fan outrightly labeled the 22-year-old “sour” and further tainted her credentials on the tour stating: “Qinwen might just be the most sour player on WTA tour. No word of appreciation for Sabalenka.”
