The speculation around the courts in Cancun, Mexico for the WTA Finals is already at its peak. The courts were supposed to be ready a week before the tournament actually began. But it was only ready a day before. And that did not allow players to be able to actually practice on the court. Piling onto everyone’s misery due to extensive rainfall, it created nothing less than havoc for the players.
This certainly was disappointing to all of them. Given that the WTA authorities spent more than $6 million on the courts and facilities for players in Cancun, the courts not being ready on time was quite unexpected.

From the beginning, since it was decided that the WTA finals would be held in Cancun, the preparations have not been up to the mark. And now just a little rainfall has caused another issue for the players once again.
It was reported that there was rainfall in the morning today and this has created a mess on the courts where players are supposed to play. The rainfall has caused the sand from the side of the courts to come to the center court. This can turn out to be a huge disaster if it is not taken care of on time as this can affect the courts. And also, it could ultimately affect how the players will play on those courts.
The surface of the courts defines a lot of how the game will go and this under preparation truly seems to be a game changer for the players and not in a good way! A lot of WTA players are disappointed with this level of management and feel it is kind of disrespectful towards them. Aryna Sabalenka being the world no. 1 also voiced it out recently.
