Martina Navratilova is often regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. With some of the biggest trophies and records to her name, the Czech American legend dominated women’s tennis like no other. However, apart from tennis, Navratilova also never shies away from presenting her views, no matter how strong they are.

Over the past few days, Martina has been highly vocal about her disapproval of the Saudi-backed, LIV Golf Series and its participants. While the wrath has been at its peak, the latest to receive the ire of the 65-year-old is golf great, Phil Mickelson.

Martina Navratilova takes a blunt dig at Phil

Ever since the announcement of the LIV series, Martina has been putting forward her strong views on the series and its participants. Previously, the legendary player had been taking digs on players as a whole. However, this time, she opted to go a step further. Taking to Twitter, she opted to hit back at Phil Mickelson.

In London, for the inauguration of the LIV series, Phil indulged in a media interaction. The interaction was expected by Phil to be a pleasant one. However, it turned out to be a bed of thorns for him. Phil was reportedly being paid $200 million from the Saudi regime, whom he had previously criticized. However, the 51-year-old American golfer seemed to have a different stance this time.

Interacting with journalists, Phil faced a session of grilling, with journalists putting up question after question relating to his controversial and contradicting statements.

Learning about Phil’s words, Martina took no time in directing her rage towards Phil. She tweeted, “More pathetic dancing sideways by Phil.”

Days earlier, Tiger Woods also came forward to criticize the LIV tour and Phil Mickelson for choosing the LIV series over the PGA tour. Learning about Woods’s statement, Navratilova took no time to back it up by tweeting, “Good to hear.”

Navratilova’s expectation from Rafael Nadal

While Navratilova has been critical about the happenings in golf, she’s optimistic about the career of one of the greats in the sport. Following Nadal’s historical win at the 2022 French Open, Navratilova has her expectations raised from the Spaniard. Navratilova recently asserted that Nadal could break her record of most wins at a single grand slam.

Going through the record books, Navratilova currently holds the record with 120 match wins at the Wimbledon Championships. However, with his latest French Open win in place, Nadal now stands at 112 match wins on the Parisian clay.
