For the women tennis players, motherhood and a major victory are equivalent to each other! While there have been a lot of players who became mothers even before winning a Grand Slam title, on the other hand, there are also some who preferred a Grand Slam title before embracing motherhood. Recently, Ons Jabeur opened up about her thoughts on becoming a mother, but at the same time, she shed light on the theory that it depends on becoming a mother for her.

Not only that, the Tunisian tennis player talked in detail about how her thoughts of starting a family are connected with her Grand Slam achievements. Let’s take a look at what Jabeur has to say about the same.

If you are a Jabeur fan, you might be aware of the fact, that even after reaching the Wimbledon final last year, it was not only the Grand Slam victory dream that was shattered, but there was a lot more that changed. Recently, during a podcast conversation on the Tennis Insider Club, she opened up about how embracing motherhood and winning a Grand Slam over time got linked to each other.

She stated, “It wasn’t actually linked, you know, Grand Slam and having a baby. But you know, I am 29 years old. My goal is to have a baby at comeback, it’s the right time to do it. And I feel like I am honestly playing great tennis, so if I stopped, I am not sure how I am gonna comeback, it’s now or never to win Grand Slam. So, I thought going to the final, and if I can win, I can rest a bit even my body is little bit exhausted from playing the tournaments.”

Along with that, she also highlighted that after putting great effort into tennis and winning a Grand Slam title she would like to give herself a little break and become a mother considering her age at the same time. Further, she also dwelled on how the 2023 Wimbledon final was an opportunity that changed her perspective over the link, but now if she wins a Wimbledon things are going to change in her personal life.

However, do you know that this is not the first time the 29-year-old tennis star has opened up about becoming a mother in context to her winning a Grand Slam title? Last year, after losing the Wimbledon final, she talked about her faded plans of becoming a mother and said she had dreams of starting a family at any time. Along with that, she is planning to put her career on hold after facing the most difficult defeat in her career.

“I was haunted by fear” – When Wimbledon’s defeat faded Ons Jabeur’s motherhood plans

While the Tunisian tennis player is hoping to become the first Arab and African woman to win a Grand Slam tournament, there are a lot of other things that put pressure on her apart from just going forward to win a Grand Slam title. At that time, she highlighted how other things put pressure on her, stating that she is only human at the end of the day.

She said, “There was something personal going on there (at Wimbledon). If I had won this (final), I was going to try and have a baby right away. And that dream faded. I was haunted by fear. After all, I’m only human, what more can I do?” Along with that, she also talked about how she is haunted by fear, and her dream of either winning a Grand Slam title or becoming a mother—one or the other—might fade away with time.
