Victoria Azarenka, the Belarusian professional tennis player and former world no. 1, recently made headlines during a match at Wimbledon. In an unusual turn of events, Azarenka hit a shot that went off the court and into the stands of an adjacent court, striking a spectator in the head. While the incident was unintentional, Azarenka’s shot instantly got attention and made it to several corners of the internet and media.

However, she made sure to acknowledge what happened and shared her reaction to the same.

The incident occurred during a high-intensity match, where Azarenka was giving her all to secure a victory. In the heat of the moment, she hit a powerful shot that went off-court, much to the surprise of everyone present. The ball soared across the court and into the neighboring stands, where it accidentally hit a guy in the head. Fortunately, the impact did not cause any serious injury, and the man appeared to be in good spirits despite the unexpected encounter with the tennis ball.

Owing to the same, several social media channels posted this video. To acknowledge and apologize for what happened, Victoria also reposted the video on her Instagram story along with an apology message. She wrote, “Oops! Sorry about that mate.”.

Azarenka is one step away from Wimbledon Quarter Finals

After coming through the first three rounds at Wimbledon, Victoria is all set to make her way to the fourth round. She had her first round with Yue Yuan in a three-set match. Her second round was with Nadia Podoroska, which she again qualified and emerged victorious for the third round at the tournament.

And now she has successfully proceeded from the third round after defeating Daria Kasatkina in a two-set match. Her fourth round is going to be against Elina Svitolina. It will be a terrific watch for all the tennis fans as these two tennis stars battle away on the grass courts of London.
