Talk about a tennis record and it is near impossible to find a stat not boasting the name of Serena Williams. Such has been the dominance of the American legend over the years that she is widely considered by many as one of the greatest players to have played the sport of tennis. Additionally, not many players have been able to close in on Serena’s records, let alone surpass them. However, Belarusian tennis star, Aryna Sabalenka had other plans today.
A few hours back, the World Number Two, Aryna Sabalenka brought her A game forward as she dispatched her American opponent, Madison Keys in straight sets. In the process, she matched Serena’s rare record that not many have heard of.

The 25-year-old entered the semifinals of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships after defeating Keys earlier today. With this, Sabalenka has made the last four of every Grand Slam tournament played so far. At the Australian Open, she emerged victorious after defeating reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in the summit clash. Further, at the French Open, her campaign ended in the semifinals, losing against Czech Republic’s Karol?na Muchov? in an epic three-set battle.
Having reached three consecutive semifinals, Sabalenka became the first woman since Serena Williams to make each of the first three major semifinals in the same season. The American legend achieved this feat in 2016 when she made it to the finals at the Australian Open and the French Open and emerged victorious at Wimbledon.

With the top seed, Iga Swiatek knocked out, Sabalenka remains the highest-ranked player still in contention for the Wimbledon title. It is a golden opportunity for the Belarusian to clinch her maiden title at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament.
Sabalenka overcomes rusty Wimbledon crowd during her quarterfinal
The tennis fans at Wimbledon haven’t been kind enough to the 25-year-old, jeering her at every possible opportunity. Nonetheless, Sabalenka put on a strong showing to brush past Keys in a match lasting an hour and 27 minutes. Taking a dig at the crowds during her post-match interview, she said that she enjoyed playing in front of them despite her opponent getting more support.
