Elina Svitolina had fallen down in rankings since last year. She was in the top 5 for four consecutive years but fell down to 1344 as she was preparing to welcome her child. The hiatus due to her pregnancy ended this April. Since then, the Ukrainian player has been performing at the top of her game again. She recently defeated Victoria Azarenka for the second time this year. During the post-match interview, the former coach of Serena Williams asked her if having a daughter had changed anything. Svitolina simply joked about the tips she was receiving from her infant daughter.
Earlier at SW19, Svitolina defeated Azarenka in the fourth round. Her victory gave her immense confidence. The former number 3 took on Iga Swiatek, the current world no.1 and emerged victorious. However, even during one of the biggest moments of her career, Svitolina’s daughter remained her center of attention.

The Ukrainian player started her hard court swing recently after a short break. She entered the WTA 500 tournament in Washington and was ready to face her rival, Victoria Azarenka, in the first round. The opening bout of the Washington Open would turn out to be great for her. She managed to defeat the Belarusian player in straight sets.
This is the second time she has managed to defeat Azarenka after she suffered five continuous losses prior to this year. After the match, Serena Williams’ former coach, Rennae Stubbs, asked her if childbirth changed her, as she seemed to be on track to regaining her prior form.
Svitolina laughed and stated that her daughter gave her a few tips, which seemed to be working in her favor now. She said, “Well, Skaï told me a few tips I guess“.
