American teenage sensation, Coco Gauff, had a dream run in this year’s Roland Garros. The 18-year-old made her way to the first Grand Slam final of her nascent career. However, her brilliant run was stopped by the World Number 1 Iga Swiatek. The Pole was in complete control of the match and cruised to a rather easy victory.

As the 18-year-old was playing in her first major final, it would be only normal if she felt nervous during the big occasion. However, the American has quashed all the talks about her in-game mental state.

Gauff denies rumors of her losing her cool mid-match

Interacting with the media after the big game, the world no.23 said that the final was more calm than she expected it to be. Also, she played down the speculation that she freaked out in the match. Rather, the 18-year-old accepted that Iga Swiatek was actually too good for her and she tried her best.

“I feel like the moment was definitely more minimal than I thought. I mean, in the match it probably looked like I was freaking out, but really it was just Iga was too good, I wasn’t freaking out,” she said.

Notably, the world number 1 was largely untroubled by the American. Winning the first set in 32 minutes. Swiatek was under a little pressure at the start of the second set when Gauff took a 2-0 lead. However, the Polish star, roared back by winning five consecutive games to seal a memorabe victory.

Although the American rising star was unable to control her emotions after losing the singles final, the teenage sensation still has a chance to go back home with a Grand Slam title. The pair of Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula are all set to play the women’s doubles final against 2016 champions, Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.

For the second consecutive year in the French Open, a player will be playing in the women’s singles and doubles finals. It will be interesting to see what the American duo can do in the finals, as Gauff will be looking for redemption after a tough loss.
