Venus Williams’ mom gave her the required push

Recently Venus Williams hosted a Q and A session on her clothing brand EleVen by Venus’ official Instagram handle. While answering a variety of questions, she stumbled upon an interesting query. One of her fans asked, “what was it like meeting the queen?”

To which her response was, “My mom made me go. So glad she did.” Thus proving that Price has always pushed her daughter toward the light and bigger things. The seven-time Grand Slam champion had the opportunity to speak to Queen Elizabeth II at the Wimbledon Championships of 2010 alongside younger sister Serena Williams, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic.

Speaking of Williams’ relation with Wimbledon, five out of the seven majors victory came from the greens of London. Also, she is the reason behind the tournament offering equal prize money. In the year 2000, even though it was her first ever Grand Slam victory, she decided to go against the organizers to bring reforms.

Williams’ performance this season

The former World no.1 walked out of the circuit last year around Wimbledon owing to a leg injury and made a comeback in this season’s event. She, taking things slow, reentered the game through mixed doubles. Alongside the former doubles world no.1, Jamie Murray Williams, she made up to the round of 16.

Thereafter, with the Citi Open, she made a comeback in the singles. However, because of the year gap induced lost grip, she failed to advance in the WTA 250 event. The 42-year-old incurred an opening round defeat in Citi Open and in the same way walked out of the Canadian and the Cincinnati Masters as well as the American Grand Slam. Williams is yet to secure her first singles win of this season.
