Iga Swiatek is rolling with the punches. Following her split with former coach Tomasz Wiktorowski earlier this month, the World No. 1 has faced a tough few days. However, despite sitting out of the Asian swing this time around, she has kept her spot strong in the upcoming WTA Finals. While fans are eagerly anticipating her return to the court, the world No. 1 remains a shining star in tennis. Especially statistically!
Per wtatennis.com, Swiatek joined an elite club, becoming only the third player to amass 10 career WTA 1000 titles, in the 16th year of these high-stakes tournaments. To put her achievement into perspective, Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka both reached this milestone at the age of 32 and 31, respectively. Remarkably, Swiatek accomplished this feat at the tender age of 22. Fans on social media celebrated this feat with one tweeting that it felt “surreal” to witness such a young player achieving so much.

Swiatek has held the No. 1 spot in the PIF WTA Rankings for an impressive period, losing it for only eight weeks in the past two and a half years. She’s already a five-time Grand Slam champion, but her exceptional performance in the Hologic WTA Tour 1000 events this year has truly showcased her dominance.
Her victory over Aryna Sabalenka in the Internazionali BNL d’Italia final marked her fourth WTA 1000 title in just five months, following triumphs in Doha, Indian Wells, and Madrid. “I kind of knew that if I’m going to work hard and if I’m going to be in the right mindset, this is achievable,” Swiatek said afterward. “I’m happy I was so focused and disciplined throughout the tournament to do that.”
Even though her US Open journey was cut short in the quarter-finals against Jessica Pegula, she aced her way through the French Open finals in June this year. By defeating Jasmine Paolini with a score of 6-2, 6-1. This marked her third consecutive title at Roland Garros and her fourth overall in five years at this prestigious tournament. But in the end, even champions need a break.
Ultimately, the Polish player withdrew from the grueling schedule of the WTA tour, citing fatigue. She has been out of the spotlight while the Asian tournaments commenced. Most recently, she resurfaced on social media to convey her well-wishes to her idol, Rafael Nadal, following his retirement announcement. Since then the WTA announced her qualification at the Finals set to take place in November.
