Will Coco Gauff's talent outshine Zheng's hunger for a massive payday in the WTA Finals?

It all comes down to this moment. After an enthralling season, Coco Gauff and Qinwen Zheng will battle it out in the summit clash of the WTA Finals. Aiming to be crowned the best of the best, both Gauff and Zheng will put their best foot forward in today’s thrilling clash. Further, the Chinese star has additional honors at stake today as she is set for a massive prize money jump if she clinches the trophy in Riyadh.

Zheng is set to earn a whopping $4.8 Million if she wins her match against Gauff today. Currently, she sits at the seventh spot in the year-to-date prize money table among the WTA players. While Aryna Sabalenka tops the chart currently with more than $8.5 Million added to her purse this year, Zheng has a chance to overtake the likes of Swiatek and Gauff and rise to the second spot.

She had won $3.2 Million before the WTA Finals. Despite losing a match in the tournament against Sabalenka, Zheng will earn enough to take her tally to $8 Million this year. Swiatek, who is currently second, has won $7.5 Million this year and the prize money won at the WTA Finals won’t be enough for her to ensure that she retains the second spot.

Interestingly, the prize money pool at the WTA Finals in Riyadh has caught the eyes of many in the tennis world. A record-breaking $15.25 Million was on offer this year, an increase of nearly 70% as compared to the last season. As a result, a win here would take Zheng’s prize money win this season to greater heights.

Nonetheless, it has been a memorable year for the Chinese star. Ahead of her clash against Gauff, her coach, Pere Riba highlighted the turning point of Zheng’s career.
