While this British WTA star refused to let her pain get over her, during the Madrid Open she realized she needed to rest.

Raducanu returned with a great performance at the Abu Dhabi Open. She also spoke about her intense three major surgeries in ten days. Now on a disappointing note, one reliable source hinted that Raducanu might have withdrawn from the ongoing Miami Open tournament.

Injury causes British WTA star Emma Raducanu to withdraw name from the Miami Open 2024 tournament

According to the news given by Sky Sports, the former US Open champion Emma Raducanu will not be playing at the Miami Open tournament. Raducanu reportedly is suffering from a lower back injury and retrieved her name back from the tournament officially. Raducanu was supposed to face off against Wang Xiyu at the first-round competition today.

However, fans will not be seeing Raducanu perform on US soil as she felt taking rest is a better option for her recovery. While this British WTA star is yet to speak about the extent of her recent injury, fans are anxious thinking that it might jeopardize Raducanu’s possibility of attending the Billie Jean King Cup in April.

Emma Raducanu was doing pretty well as fans were mesmerized by her incredible performance against Marie Bouzkova. Raducanu won ten out of a total of eleven games in the first set of that match brining a lot of hope among her fans about her intense return. However, things finally didn’t go as planned for this former US Open champion and she will be absent from the Miami Open tournament. This former US Open champion dropped a promising performance at the prestigious Indian Wells tournament this year. Although she lost to Australian Open winner Aryna Sabalenka, Raducanu seemed hopeful to finally return to the professional court. She said- “It was a good success, I would say. I think I have handled myself a lot better on the match court. I was a lot more positive and hungry to play, and that showed I think in the tennis that I did play.” 

Raducanu went straight to the Abu Dhabi Open after having a major setback at the Qatar Open. She commented- “‘It was combination of things. It was my first day-match I have played in a year. That is different. I need to practise training outside a bit more. The lights, conditions, shadows… it is really hard to see the ball, I found towards the end.”

Emma Raducanu’s withdrawal from the ongoing Miami Open has disappointed her fans. However, they still wish a speedy recovery for this British WTA star and wish to see her on professional court soon.
